Glow Discharge Mass Spectroscopy

Glow Discharge Mass Spec is the most comprehensive and sensitive technique available for the analysis of inorganic solids. It is capable of analyzing conducting, semi-conducting and insulating samples. Its elemental coverage encompasses lithium through uranium with the ability to determine impurity levels from the sub-ppb range to the percent level. GDMS advantages include total elemental coverage, high precision, low detection limits and semi-quantitative accuracy (± 25% relative) without the use of standards and its high resolution capabilities eliminate most spectral interferences. This is an ideal technique for analyzing high purity (99.9999+%) materials or materials that cannot be digested for trace metal impurities. A full survey by GDMS is priced on a “per sample” basis. The optimal sample size is 1.5mm dia. X 20mm long – please do not send more than we need since we will have to dispose of or return the excess.

Spark Source Mass Spectroscopy

Spark Source Mass Spec is a semi-quantitative technique that is used to analyze trace elements in solid or liquid materials. SSMS is commonly used for organic samples, halide species, glasses and insulating samples, though it can be used for many other sample types as well. Its elemental coverage encompasses lithium through uranium with the ability to determine impurity levels from the sub-ppm range to 0.1% range. This is an ideal technique for analyzing high purity (99.9999+%) materials or materials that cannot be digested for trace metal impurities. A full survey by SSMS is priced on a “per sample” basis.
